A dense, fast-spreading ground cover perennial with attractive semi-evergreen foliage. A cultivar of our native Bugle.
- Short spikes of dark blue flowers are produced above the foliage from late spring to early summer.
- Leaves are rounded and glossy, dark green to almost black in colour, providing a good contrasting background to the flowers above. It will retain some foliage over winter, but can be cut back in early spring to encourage fresh new foliage.
- This plant typically thrives in dry shade, with the colour of the leaves being darker in cool, dapple shaded areas. It can scorch in full sun so try to avoid hot, exposed sites. Perfect for planting and naturalising in shaded rockeries, banks and slopes, where other plants might struggle. Also a good ground cover for beneath light canopied trees in woodland planting.
- It can spread quickly, so only plant in areas that your happy for it to take over, or contain it by growing it in a pot.
- The flowers are highly attractive to a wide range of other pollinator species.
- Height and Spread approx. 10-20cm x 30-50cm.
- Supplied in an 9cm pot
