Also known as Sea Thrift, native to Ireland and commonly found in coastal regions, this compact evergreen perennial is low-maintenance and provides a bit of interest year-round.
- In early summer, clusters of deep pink flowers are produced in rounded drumstick-like flower heads, borne on slender upright green stems. Deadheading regularly will prolong the flowering time into the autumn.
- The stiff, tufted leaves are grass-like in their appearance, forming tidy matting clumps that make an effective ground cover.
- Naturally found in tough coastal climates where salty air, harsh winds and sandy, free draining soils are all factors where most other plants would struggle to grow. A full sun area that does not get too wet in the winter is essential for these plants to thrive. They are a fantastic plant for pots, rockeries, and Mediterranean gardens, while also making an impact as edging plants in raised beds and mixed borders.
- The flowers are very attractive to a wide range of pollinators, particularly bees to butterflies.
- Height and Spread approx. 20cm x 30-50cm.
- Supplied in a 9cm pot
