Cirsium rivulare 'Trevor's Blue Wonder'

An airy perennial with an upright, sprawling habit with thistle-like flowers. Also known as Plume Thistle.

- From June until late August, striking purple pincushion flowers are borne in small clusters on top of long, wiry stems. Deadheading old flowers will encourage new ones to keep coming. 

- Dark green prickly leaves form a clump at the base of the plant. 

- The perfect choice for beds and borders to add a bit of height amongst mixed planting. It thrives in full sun to partial shade, and prefers moist or damp soil, but will still grow anywhere that doesn't dry out. It is a fantastic plant for planting amongst wispy grasses and other elegant flowering plants in prairie-style planting, while also a staple in cottage and wildlife gardens, mixed border, and meadows/woodland edges. Its flowers are very good for floral arrangements, either dried or fresh cut.

- Flowers are fantastic for pollinators, and will act as a magnet for bees and butterflies. The last flush of flowers can be left on the plant for the winter, and will provide seed for birds.
