Now goes by the name Lamprocapnos spectabilis, but is still referred to its old name Dicentra spectabilis, which we find here is easier to remember, and pronounce! Even better, we can refer to it by its common name, appropriately called 'Bleeding Hearts'.
- From April until June, pendulous heart-shaped pink to red flowers with white tips hang delicately from arching succulent stems above the foliage.
- Its attractive mid-green leaves are fresh and fern-like in appearance. The leaves will start to die back soon after the flowers have finished, so it would be advised to plant it amongst other perennials that continue interest into summer and autumn.
- Thrives best in cool, damp semi-shaded locations, such as under canopies of lightly shading trees, or in corners or beds that are open but don't receive much direct sunlight. It can also tolerate full sun if it doesn't dry out. Perfect for woodland planting, cottage gardens and raised beds, and the flowers can make a nice elegant addition to cut flower arrangements.
- Very attractive to early pollinators such as bumblebees and other bee species.
- Height and Spread approx. 60-90cm x 45-60cm.
- Supplied in a 9cm pot
