Epimedium x versicolor 'Sulphureum'

An evergreen, ground cover perennial with a compact, spreading habit.

- Showy sprays of primrose-yellow flowers are produced on bright red stems from March until April, just before the fresh new foliage growth emerges.

- Its light green leaves are mottled and veined with red, forming a beautiful contrast and also making a lush backdrop to the flowers which sit above. The foliage form a dense ground cover that will help suppress weeds. 

- Although the foliage is evergreen, if often benefits from being cut back in spring before it flowers, as this will separate the old, weathered leaves from the fresh new foliage for the growing season ahead. It will also help to show off the flowers. 

- Grows in most areas, but is best known for its tolerance of shade and dappled shade as underplanting woodland areas. It can however also withstand full sun locations, and can be reasonably drought tolerant once established.
