A really stunning, but slightly aggressive (😂) perennial with sharp, spikey foliage and sharp, spikey (but very attractive!) flowers. Also known as Sea Holly.Â
- Small, cone-shaped metallic blue flowers are surrounded by deeply divided vibrant blue bracts, produced on stiff, branching, upright stems from July until September. Regular deadheading will prolong flowering time. Seed heads can be left through autumn for some fantastic winter interest.Â
- Its spikey deep green leaves are marbled and veined with silver, and form a tidy compact clump at the base of the plant.
- Requires a dry, full sun area with very well-draining soil. Its long flowering time, compact form and prolonged period of interest makes it a fantastic choice for pots and rockeries, coastal gardens, prairie planting schemes, or for adding to the front of existing borders and raised beds, and filling in gaps where needed. Flowers and seed heads work great in both freshly cut and dried flower arrangements.Â
- Flowers are hugely popular amongst bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators.
- Height and Spread approx. 40-60cm x 40-60cm.Â
- Supplied in a 9cm pot
