Galium odoratum / Sweet Woodruff

A vigorous, fast-growing perennial woodland ground cover. It is a wildflower that is native to Ireland with both medicinal and culinary uses. 

- An abundance of tiny white, star-shaped flowers are produced in April until June, forming a sea of colour that brightens up the woodland floor.

- Whorls of narrow emerald green foliage carpet the ground on compact upright stems, and have a lovely sweet scent of hay when picked or crushed, which gets stronger as it wilts and dries out. 

- Best suited to deep shade or partial shade under cover of trees and shrubs, or in a dark corners or beds where direct sun does not hit. Perfect for a woodland or wild garden planting.

- It is a vigorous spreader, so can quickly naturalise and take over an area when it's allowed. It can be controlled by removing unwanted plants or by using an edging to keep it contained. 

- Flowers will attract a wide range of pollinators. 

- Height and Spread approx. 20-30cm x 60-90cm+.
