Helleborus 'Single Black' / 'Garden Black'

A stunning clump-forming evergreen perennial with fabulous contrasting flowers - a must-have in any garden! 

- In late winter/early spring, dangling, cup-shaped, dark purple, almost black flowers are borne on upright stems. The striking and unusual long-lasting flower will stand out against surrounding evergreens, and will be one of few plants in flower so early in the year. 

- Its leathery, divided evergreen foliage sits below the blooms, and can provide year-round interest.

- Will grow in most areas in full sun or partial shade, providing it is not too dry. and is sheltered from strong winds.

- Flowers will provide an important food source for bumblebees and other early pollinators.

- Although evergreen, it is advised to cut back the foliage in winter, as it becomes a bit weathered looking and is not as attractive at this stage of the year. Pruning away the foliage also helps to really accentuate the blooms when they emerge in spring, and allows for clean fresh foliage growth for the upcoming season.
