Lobelia speciosa 'Starship Scarlet'

A tidy, upright clump-forming perennial with a double whammy of attractive flowers and foliage. 

- Vibrant scarlet-red flowers are borne on upright black stems from July to late September. Regular deadheading will improve flowering and prolong into the autumn.

- Narrow dark bronze-green leaves form a rich backdrop to the bright red flowers, and contrast nicely with surrounding plants. 

- Perfect for full sun and semi-shaded positions, and thrives in boggy damp soils making it a stunning pond marginal plant. It is tolerant of a wide range of soil types, and so would be a good addition to most garden types and locations. Suitable for pots if sufficiently watered, and will also work well in raised beds, mixed borders and cottage garden-style planting. 

- Flowers will attract a wide range of bees, butterflies and other pollinators.

- Height and Spread approx. 60-80cm x 40-60cm. 

- Can be considered short-lived, and may require mulching in the winter in very severe cold spells. 

- Supplied in a 9cm pot
