Also known as Jerusalem Cross or Maltese Cross due to its cross-shaped vibrant flowers, Lychnis chalcedonica is a tall, upright perennial with a slowly spreading habit.
- From June until Autumn, tall, unbranched upright stems are topped with dense clusters of eye-catching vibrant red cross-shaped flowers.
- Its mid-green leaves form tidy clumps at the base of each plant.
- Prefers moisture-retentive but well-draining soil in full sun or dappled shade. A fantastic plant for adding height to flower beds without taking up too much space. Perfect for cottage and wildlife gardens with mixed perennial planting, coastal gardens, pond margins and prairie gardens providing the ground does not dry out too much. It also makes a great cut flower.
- Its clustered, flat flower heads make great landing platforms which appeal to a wide range of pollinators, particularly butterflies and bees.
- Height and Spread approx. 80-100cm x 40-60cm.
- Supplied in a 9cm pot
