A summer flowering cottage garden/herby perennial with very distinctive flowers that are an absolute magnet for pollinators. Monarda also goes by the more common name Bergamot or Bee Balm.
- From late June until September, very vibrant, attractive bright magenta-pink flowers are produced. The tubular flowers look very decorative, occurring in dense clusters which surround a dark centre and emerge from dark maroon-red bracts. Flowers continuously if regularly deadheaded.
- Its deep green foliage forms a lush clump beneath the flowers, and is very pleasantly aromatic, sometimes picked for pot-pourri. It is also edible and can be used to flavour drinks or garnish food.
- Best grown in a sunny, sheltered spot, it is a fantastic, eye-catching addition to cottage gardens, wildlife gardens, sensory and prairie-style gardens, in mixed borders and raised beds, coastal gardens, and also makes for a very good cut flower.
- Highly attractive to a wide range of pollinator species, including honey bees, hoverflies, bumblebees and butterflies.
- Height and Spread approx. 60-90cm x 40-60cm.
- Supplied in a 9cm pot
