Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens'

Black Mondo - evergreen, compact, low maintenance and easy to control.

- This grass-like perennial has stunningly dark, almost jet-black arching foliage, which creates a fabulous contrast with surrounding plants, particularly in rockeries, raised beds, front borders and containers.

- In summer, small spikes of light pink to white bell-shaped flowers are produced, which later develop into dark purple-black berries in the autumn.  

- The dark black colour will be more prominent in full-sun locations. It can also be grown well in semi-shade, in which case it will be mixed with more dark-green foliage. 

- If a large area needs to be covered, it is recommend to plant densely in numbers, as it is a slow growing plant and so will take some time to provide good coverage.

- Requires well drained soil, as it may suffer from root rot during very wet winter months.

- Height and Spread approx. 20cm x 30cm.
