A beautiful variety of Switchgrass with a formal upright habit, originating from the Prairies of North America.
- Its blue-green summer foliage later develops to burgundy red at the tips, adding vibrant contrast to its surrounds. It naturally forms neat upright clumps, and so does not require a huge amount of space and can grow well in amongst other perennials and shrubs without impacting on their growth.
- In late summer and autumn, panicles of tiny deep pink to reddish purple flowers are produced in airy sprays just above the foliage, creating a hazy, shimmering appearance.
- Thrives best and in full sun areas that do not get too wet in the winter. Great for planting in drifts or as stand-alone focal points in flower beds, cottage gardens, prairie-style planting schemes and coastal gardens. The hazy flowers are great in both fresh and dried cut flower arrangements.
- Should be cut back to 4-6 inches in March/April to allow for lush fresh growth for the upcoming growing season. Can be slow to re-grow again in the spring, but takes off once warmer summer temperatures set in.
- Height and Spread approx. 120cm x 60-100cm.
- Supplied in a 9cm pot
