Another one for the quirky, unusual books - Rudbeckia 'Green Wizard' is maybe an acquired taste for some, but it really is a very stunning variety that can add so much structure and texture to your flower beds and borders, without being demanding on care or maintenance.
- It does not have vibrant, extravagant petals like is expected of many flowering perennials, but rather very small, subtle green sepals that surround a large central cone that is dark purple-brown in colour, looking more like a winter seed head than a flower. The cone gradually bursts open from the bottom up, revealing tiny bright yellow pollen-covered stamens for some additional interest. Flowers from July to September/October.
- Large clumps of green foliage forms a lush base beneath the flowers.
- Suitable for any full sun location provided there is well-draining soil, and will also grow well in dappled shade. Long flowering, low-maintenance, easy to grow and self-seeding, while also adding height and structure - it can tick a lot of boxes for anyone looking for an interesting perennial for large planting schemes such as cottage gardens, prairie-style or wildlife gardens. It is also a very popular choice for dried or fresh cut flower arrangements.
- These subtle flowers are still hugely attractive to a wide range of bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
- Height and Spread approx. 100-180cm (wide height range) x 60-80cm.
- Supplied in a 9cm pot
