This carpeting, evergreen Thyme can be grown as a ground cover in various full sun locations, and also holds some beneficial culinary and medicinal uses.
- Deep pink to purple flowers are produced from early to late summer, forming a sea of attractive blooms that carpet the ground in its mat-forming habit.
- Its mounding, woolly, mid to dark-green foliage is small but very strongly scented, particularly when the leaves are picked, crushed or trampled on.
- This plant absolutely thrives in full sun areas, and is reasonably drought-tolerant once established. It does not like areas that retain too much water, or are too wet during the winter months. It is a staple plant for rockery and Mediterranean gardens, commonly used for growing in cracks and crevices in walls or paving as it provides year-round interest, and can also be a fantastic choice as a trailing plant for containers and edging raised beds.
- Creeping Thymes, such as this one, are used a lot as a substitute for lawns, as it provides flowers, hugely benefits wildlife, can take trampling and walking-on, and does not require regularly mowing or pruning. However, it is advised to prune/cut just after flowering in order to maintain its compact habit and prevent it from becoming woody.
- The flowers will attract all sorts of pollinators, from bees to butterflies and everything in between.
- Height and Spread approx. 10cm x 30-50cm.
- Supplied in a 9cm pot
