A very distinctive, elegant, popular short-lived perennial with a very tall, broad, sparsely spreading habit.

- Stiff, upright green stems are well branched and form an open, airy structure that has an abundance of delicate and vibrant round flower clusters, lavender purple in colour, from June until October.

- Toothed, oblong sage-green leaves are sparely distributed, although being more concentrated towards the base of the plant. Stems may need support if the area is exposed and windy.

- Requires very well draining soil in a full sun position, and does not like areas that are too wet in the winter months. A truly fantastic plant for adding height and architectural structure to prairie gardens, flower beds and mixed borders, and also thrives in coastal areas. A bit too tall for typical rockeries, but is well suited to gravel gardens that are hot and sunny. The flowers can also make an interesting addition to cut flower arrangements.

- Flowers are a magnet for butterflies, bees, hoverflies and other beneficial pollinators.

- It's a little bit on the tender side, so may need winter protection. It can freely self seed, so if the parent plant does not come back the following year, which can be often the case, young seedlings may shoot up in nearby areas.

- Height and Spread approx. 180-250cm x 80-100cm.

- Supplied in a 9cm pot
