Verbena hastata 'Blue Spires'

A fantastic, self-seeding prairie-style perennial that adds architectural height and structure to flower beds.

- Airy, upright, branched spires of tiny purple-blue flowers are produced from June to September.

- Branching stems bear narrow, toothed mid-green foliage that forms a dense clump beneath the flowers.

- Requires well draining soil in a full sun position, and does not like areas that are too wet in the winter months. It can add stunning and eye-catching structure and interest with its vertical flowering spikes. A great low-maintenance addition to cottage, wildlife and prairie gardens, flower beds and mixed borders, and also thrives in coastal areas. It can also make an excellent cut flower.

- Flowers are a magnet for butterflies, bees, hoverflies and other beneficial pollinators.

- Can freely self-seed if allowed, so can spread quite a bit through beds. To avoid this, deadhead spent flowers regularly before they go to seed. This will also help to prolong its flowering time. 

- Height and Spread approx. 120-150cm x 60-80cm.
